When you sail with us, you become a medseiler with important tasks on the ship, and is considered part of the crew. A journey with Sorlandet is an experience that challenges and develops you, and whether you've sailed before or not, you get sufficient training to perform the varied and interesting tasks await you as medseiler.
To divide the crew into different inspection teams is as old scheme sailing ships themselves , and that medseiler will belong to one of three inspection teams : red, white or blue. Each guard consists of a four hour spell as deck watch, and then off duty for eight hours .
During a four hour period is marked every half hour battle on ships at . This is called turning glass , because in the old days came time to hourglass . Cover Guard is the Guard that works around the clock in a race with South Coast. All the guard is in readiness to perform the sail maneuvers and other tasks necessary for safe progress. Both you and everyone on board working together to sail the ship. While on board you will have the opportunity to become familiar with everything from the deck, helm, lookout, galley-to fireguard.
Off duty, of eight hours twice a day, can be used for sleeping, eating, take interesting courses, read, play games, socialize with others or just relax on the beautiful sailing vessel. For us it is important that you enjoy your stay on board. We facilitate our world will be a social and friendly place, both of you will find something together or if you rest you. Sorlandet constitutes a powerful and evocative setting for your event. Our captain and crew meetings and our guests are welcome at the dock before heading out into the Southern Norwegian archipelago. We serve tasty food and drinks for our guests to suit your surroundings.

Sorlandet has developed an educational program for children, "Children of the Full Rigged Ship." We offer all municipalities in southern Norway to take part in the cooperation that gives primary school children an introduction to the region's historical connection to the sea and basic maritime safety.
