The board has appointed Kristiansanderen Knut Arne Gjertsen as new CEO from 1. June 2019.
Gjertsen is 57 years old and comes from a position as Deputy Director General of the Norwegian Mapping Authority, which has approx. 900 employees in 15 offices. In his position, he has contributed to extensive collaboration with municipalities, county governors and other public agencies. The Mapping Authority owns and operates M / S Hydrograf, which is the mother ship for 2-3 other boats that operate all year round in Norwegian waters.
In his work, Gjertsen has also worked internationally, which is important in relation to the fact that the full-rigger Sørlandet owns and operates an international high school. In addition, ships work as an ambassador for our region and Norway for visits to foreign ports.
Gjertsen has a degree in economics / administration and shipping from Agder district college and INSEAD in France. In his professional life, he has achieved versatile work experience with a focus on business management within the areas; innovation and development, project management, strategic management and applied information technology. The foundation's board believes that Gjertsen is the right person to further develop and lead the Foundation up to the 100th anniversary in 2027.
